Coming to the game? Check out the Ford Flex

Posted by Chrissie Wywrot on October 11, 2009 – 12:45 pm

Hey Lions fans! If you are heading down to Ford Field to tailgate, keep your eyes open for the Ford Flex.

We will be around Ford Field today offering multiple prizes. If you know how many people the Flex fits, you can find us at Eastern Market and let us know – the first 50 people with the correct answer will get a prize; if you know one of the four colors the Flex is offered in, stop by Madison and Brush Street and get a prize.

If you don’t get a chance to tailgate with us today, you will have the chance to find the Flex again on Sunday, November 1. Also, the Flex will be located at Gate G inside Ford Field throughout the game. Go Lions!

The Flex is a car. I know that the bottom line is that we’re 1-4, but something is different. It seems the team is learning to compete, and we’re only a few draft picks away from getting out of the celllar. I believe games in the NFL are won up front, and I have faith that our new staff realizes that. We shore up our O and D lines through the next 2 drafts, and we have the young talent that will make this team a perennial contender. I wasn’t a big fan of the Stafford pick initially, but now I realize that he was the best option given the talent coming out of the draft at that position next year. Also, the Pettigrew pick was a little shocking at #2, but I see the logic behind that as well. He shores up the line as well as giving Stafford a “go to” guy. When these two kids develop some chemistry, they will be extremely dangerous with Calvin drawing perpetual double teams. I think our Lions are a lot closer than people may think. When we do win, it will be for fans such as myself who have flown Lions colors throughout the hot mess of the last 2 (or 3) decades. Pro football has yet to experience the mania that is coming when the Lions become contenders. This town is HUNGRY for a football winner. It sounds corny, but I saw tears shed (myself included) at the Washington game. I would never have foreseen the flood of emotion that overcame myself and many others when we won that game. It was a blip on the radar for the masses, but for the longsuffering Lions fan, it WAS the END of an extremely traumatic time for TRUE Lions fans. I’m not lathering up in Lions butter here, I’m just saying that something “smells different”. Coach Schwartz exudes a confidence that has been lacking here since Joe Schmidt. He came to us knowing that the job he was taking has literally ended some careers. The man is smart, confident, and he doesn’t wear his emotions on his sleeve. He, more than anyone else, is the biggest key to building a winner here. I truly believe Mr. Lewand, Mr. Mayhew, and Coach Schwartz are going to give true Detroit Lions fans what we so richly deserve…our football dignity, our football pride, a WINNING TEAM. Trust me folks, it IS coming.
