“The win was very exciting. I guess you could say it was the second time getting the monkey off our back. The first one was exciting, but the second one I think was more exciting because we went through a six-game losing streak just to get another win. It gives us a little motivation and a high spirit going into this game – especially a game like this. This is a very exciting game that has a lot of history behind it and we want to make it an interesting game.
“The win gives us great confidence. It shows us that we’ve got to potential to actually go into the game and not have to struggle as much as we do. We shoot ourselves in the foot a lot, so we’ve just got to stop that. We do have the personnel to just go in there and play man-for-man, put points on the board and stop people. If we just relax, we’ll be able to build confidence mentally – not just physically – as far as going out there and letting people run all over us and then coming back. I think we just need to start from the ground up.
“This will be the second game against Green Bay. Greg Jennings, man … he won’t let the fact that they won go. But he’s very supportive. He lets me know, ‘Keep your head up. You’re going be a great player; you’re going to have a great defense.’ But then again, he still has that ‘W’ on his side. I kind of hate that because when we were at Western, that’s how it always was. He always beat me – he always found a way to beat me for some reason. It’s the same way now. He’s playing for the opposite team that we’re going to play on Thursday and I’m looking forward to trying to bust it up a little bit.
“At the end of the day, when it’s all said and done, we’re pretty much brothers. So we’ve got so much respect for each other on the field and off the field. But in the heat of the moment, as the bullets are flying, your athletic mentality comes out. Last game I saw him on the ground after I made a tackle and I’m like, ‘You ‘ain’t going to score no more – you ‘ain’t going to catch any more balls!’ Everything just came out, but at the end of the day we’re brothers.
“I’ve been watching the Thanksgiving game for a couple years now – I’m a fan of that now. To have an opportunity to play in one now is real big for me. But, then again, we can’t get too caught up in it being on National TV, one of the only games on Thursday. We can’t get caught up in that because that draws us away from our goal and our goal is to go in there and execute every play as best as we can. We’re just going to take it for what it is. It’s a Thanksgiving game with a lot of history behind it and we’re just going to try to make history again.”
