Lions’ Fan Walking 425 Miles to Support the Team

Posted by Chrissie Wywrot on August 20, 2010 – 4:30 pm

To show support to the Detroit Lions, Joe Paquette, 63, is walking from his home in Munising, Mi (Upper Peninsula) to the Lions practice facility in downstate Allen Park, 425 miles, bringing the message of “Sisu!”

“Sisu” is Finnish for “strength of will, determination, perseverance and acting rationally in the face of adversity.”

Paquette’s family has started a Facebook page so fans can follow his journey to Allen Park.

Today’s update is: “Dad is headed south on highway 15. They are looking for places to park the RV.”

Follow Paquette’s journey on Facebook and stay tuned to Detroitlions.com for more!

I sure hope you all give Joe Paquette a big welcome when he gets to Allen Park. It would mean so much to him and his family. All of us in his home town of Munising are following him on his Journey.

Joey isnt just your ordinary guy out for some publicty, he is a genuine great guy who goes beyond the call of duty for his family, his town, and community. He is known as Mr Fourth of July for all he has done and continues to do for Munisings July 4th celebration. If someone is in need he is there, to do what ever he can. He is active in the American Legion, our Sault Tribe youth groups, and any thing else the community needs.

And he is a true LIONS fan, win or lose he is a fan and has been for many, many years!!!!

Please welcome him in a BIG way.

    Thanks
    Debbie Tucker

Does WWJ have any video they can post of the pre-game show with Joe “Sisu” Pacquette? Would love to see it and I hear none of it got on the NFL Network presentation of the game. Oh and Charlie Sanders drop me a line I haven’t seen you since training camp 1968 at Cranbrook (I was a a fresh faced 8 year old camper). You rock! Darrel Doehr
