    Coach Schwartz,

This is my wish list for the 2010-11 season:

    1. No dumb penalties. This has plagued past Lions teams and has cost them many games. You can’t get rid of all of them but lets get our heads in the game.

    2. All of the defensive lineman would stay on their feet. Hard to believe that this talented line would fall like dominos. When one of our lineman fall we become less effective. If they do, you can forget about sacks. All for one and one for all.

    3. Stop our secondary getting out of position. Why do we show our cards to our opposing recievers? If we press, the CB’s will setup to stop inside or outside routes. Why tell the QB and reciever what were going to shutdown.

4.To have our offensive redzone rock. Boy, it’s nice to even talk about offensive redzone whoas. We use to be happy to cross the 50.

    5. To have our defensive redzone rock. I don’t understand for the life of me, why we can’t cover TE’s. The Bears ran double TE’s with a fake up the middle with the running back multiple times and both of their TE’s were wide open. Gee, I wonder which TE is going to be wide open in the endzone when we play the Bears?

    6. You give De De Dorsey a chance to run back
kickoffs. He showed great quickness and hands against Denver. He might be the Daren Sproles of the Lions.

    7. Beat the Packers in GreenBay!

    8. Can we stay healthy as a team for once!!!

We must have everyone come to to the games not only with what Coach Schwartz said but we need to show everyone that we are refusing to give up on the Detroit Lions. I am a sophomore in high school. I go there every day in September and October on friday’s wearing my Detroit Lions merchandise in support for this team and everyone says” Man, Why do you even support the worst team in the NFL?, they suck” I say it’s because a true Football fan NEVER gives up on his/her team. I refuse to give up on The DETROIT LIONS. GO TO EVERY GAME SHOW THE SUPPORT WE REALLY HAVE FOR THE TEAM WEREALLY LOVE!!!

Great videos on the chemistry of the team. I hope the Offense, Defense, and Sp. Teams are working everyday to be on the same page. There’s three weeks until the regular season so the talk of team competition should not exist anymore. The fans I’m sure of it will support who ever is the starter by that time. May the best man get the position for what it’s worth.

After watching the practice videos, are we really looking sharp or are we just making plays? You know what I mean…

    GO Lions!
Been a season ticket holder for 10 years. I’ve seen and heard the so called fans turn on our home team, where paper bags on their head and boo them. Theses aren’t the true fans who represent the Lions. Lets see what happens this year with the great team we’ve built! I predict many sell outs…

Great post, Matt! I feel the same way. A true fan can be spotted because he doesn’t quit on his team when they’re bad. Everyone loves a winner and nobody likes a loser. The Lions will be back. People will jump on the bandwagon but I have supported them through all the crap the previous GM dumped on us (we don’t speak his wretched name). I have a Lions tie, Lions can hugger (coozy?) and Lions license plate frame, not to mention T shirt. They are on the right track but much work still must be done. Go Lions!

I may be the only Lions’ fan in NY, living right in the heart of Giants country. I’ve been a fan since the team drafted Billy Simms, more than 30 years ago! Planning to see a game this season in Detroit for the first time ever. Just trying to decide which game to attend. Can’t wait!

Hey guys! Whats the chance the lions can pick up Tony Washington before the season begins? He’s a big o-line guy at 6-8, 310 lbs, and he does’nt have a team yet. Sound like a good idea?

Did’nt It Seem like Pat Kaputa and Dennis Filthian Were all Excited about Javid Best and Nate burleson Returning Kicks and Punts!
Well, I’m not sure if I would Put either one of those Two Players in for the Kick off or punt duties From Now thru the Chicago Game.
I think that they are excited about It, But, only because they Probably think that that would be good time for Chicago to Take them down for the rest of the year If you know what I Mean.
Sometimes I think that Kaputo or Kapota or what ever and filthian are More Chicago Fans the LIONS Fans.
One of the shows that I heard Filthian doing He was asked if he thought the Lions would win on the road? He said that the Lions will probably win on the Road BUT, Not at Chicago!
SO, I’m not saying that they Know anything any way or the other, Or If they would let it be known What the LIONS Plans are?
However, It does seem allfully funny that filthian Is or was so sure that the Lions wouldn’t win the Chicago game.
How Can he be so sure? Well, anyways. another day In the Life of a LION! (:
P.S. I happen to believe that we can win the game in Chicago, Or any other Game that the LIONS put thier Minds and Bodies In to.
You know if everyone is healthy and all that? The Sky is the Limit.
    LIONS!
P.S.S. I hope that I am not being negative or anything.
Oh, and as for the guy that said that we should celebrate Being a more positive TEAM and have a good attitude about it all, Dude I totally understand where you are comming from , But, People Like Kaputo and Filthian Just don’t get it. They Might not Have the ability to Believe in something before it happens?
And they Have Seen so much Loosing that they don’t beliee that it can ever happen here.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS TEAM TAKE CHANCES DOWN THE FIELD MORE OFTEN THAN LAST YEAR.THE DAYS OF THE SHORT DUMP OFF PASSES ON 3RD AND LONG SHOULD BE OVER, AS A SEASON TICKET HOLDER FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW ID JUST LIKE TO SEE DEEP PASS ATTEMPTS MORE OFTEN TO STRETCH THE FIELD. STAFFORD HAS A GUN AND MEGATRON CAN OUT JUMP ANY CORNER IN THE NFL. SEEMS LIKE A GOOD COMBO TO ME.

Can’t wait for home opener against the eagles!! Thats when people will see, our team finally has what it takes

I was Wondering If this TEAM or the coach’s have thought of Trying Caleb Campbell at the safety Position even if he is the Size of a LBer?
Seems to me that the Safeties that are Playing Safety are allway’s Getting Hurt.
Why Not put caleb there at Safety seeing how he still has his Speed and Now has the Body to Keep up with the Punishment.
It Just seems Silly to not even try him at that Position, When that is his Position?
And the Fact that Caleb was awesome at the safety position.
I Really believe that this TEAM is Missing out on his true potentail By Placing him at LBer and not even trying him at Safety.
We need a strong Safety and I would allmost BET that Caleb can still play the position and probably be the best Player that we have for that position.
And we are going to let him go when he can’t play the LBer position when he should have been playing safety the whole time anyway!
    Anyway’s GO LIONS!

Sorry Coach, I would love to be there for every game, but I live a long way from Detroit, on the West side of the state. I’m sure there are many just like myself that can’t make the games in person, but are planted in front of the TV faithfully each and every Sunday afternoon. I started watching these Lions back when Lem Barney was drafted and have been in my seat for the games ever since. The times that I did make it down to watch them play live, (probably a dozen or so) they have never lost, so maybe I am a good luck charm for the team. Perhaps you could talk to our pal Mr. Ford and get me some season tickets and a hotel room for weekends during the season. Just tell him you can pretty much have an undefeated home record. I’m not sure if I should go wait out by the mail box, or will you be sending the package with Fed Ex? Either way is ok by me, Coach. Just let me know, and tell the team that I will be there for them. I think they will be excited……. OK, C ya….. oh, and tell Mr. Ford that I said “Hi”. One more thing. Tell Matt Stafford that my wife says the Axe shampoo smells good, but that stuff turns your hair into dry straw, stay away from it, Coach. Unless you want to go bald…. Don’t say nothing, but I think Jason Hanson must have been using that Axe stuff…..

Finally a good looking team. My family and I are native to Detroit. Evenif you guys don’t have a winning season 8 and 8 would be great.I’d like to see some flashy and exciting games. I haven’t since Barry in the late 80′s early 90′s. Hopefully when decision time comes you’ll keep A. Brown over Dorsey. Comparing the years in the league with overall talent and yards, Brown is a greater threat .Especially if you pair him up with Best. How exciting that combo could be. Just a thought. GOOD LUCK, I’LL BE PRAYING AND ROUTING FOR YOU OUT HERE IN OREGON

Coach Schwartz is magical…the team is magical; however, getting the good luck charm there is up to you. Take a vacation on one of those weekends. They have
their hands full whacking their opponents around and executing game plan so they can win. Season tickets aren’t cheap, nor are hotels…you’re a true fan, they know a lotta Detroit fans from other states can’t make it….cheer them on. The stadium will be full of good luck charms…

  22. By ward elliott on Aug 30, 2010 | Reply

WHY DONT THE LIONS TRY GIVING OUT MORE POSTERS,BOBBLEHEADS AND OTHER TEAM ITEMS TO GET FANS TO COME DOWN AND ENJOY THE GAME, WE GOTTA GET THE FAMS INTO IT MORE…AGAINST THE BROWNS THERE WAS NOT MUCH NOISE WHEN CLEVELANDS OFFENSE TOOK THE FIELD, WE GOTTA CHANGE THAT. WE NEED SOME HYPE MEN/WOMEN IN THE CROWDS. WE GOTTA HELP CREATE A HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE.WE GOTTA YELL AS LOUD AS WE CAN PEOPLE. LETS GO LIONS

  23. By ward elliott on Aug 30, 2010 | Reply

ALSO TO GIVE OUR D-LINE MORE TIME WE GOTTA PLAY A LITTLE MORE BUMP AND RUN I THINK. TOO MUCH ALLOWING THE WRS THEIR SPACE TO GET COMFORTABLE

I tried to explain what the guy was Talking about with filthian and Kaputo, and still don’t think that I explained what the guy was trying to explain to the Negative Radio Hosts. Allthough I do have to say that they were more Positive about the TEAM than they have been in the Past.
Anyways, Here goes, The Man was not saying that we should be celebrating Wins Or How good the TEAM was doing.
He was only saying that the Fans should celebrate JUST the Fact that we have a better General Manager And a Better Coaching Staff than we have had in a long,LONG Time!
The HOST”S and some of the Fans that were Calling in totaly Missunderstood what the Man was trying to say!
He was not saying that we should be celebrating How good we were.
He was just saying that we should celebrate the fact that we Have a Chance to become a good TEAM Now that we have a Better TEAM all around with the front office and the coaching and the Better players that we were bringing in.
In other WORDS HE and I think it would be OK to celebrate the Fact that we are NO LONGER a TEAM being LED by INCOMPATANTS!
    GO LIONS!

  25. By Don on Aug 30, 2010 | Reply

OH, and I agree with the guy that said that we NEED more Fans at the Games!
The Place rocked pretty good considering that it wasn’t full.
If the Stands would have been filled with more LIONS Fans it would have strengthened OUR TEAMS advantage a lot more.
Whoever was a season ticket holder and stopped being one, I Really believe that you are mising out on some great Football being Played.
And I’m not sure what are record will end up being? But, I do believe that with more Fan support this TEAM will be a lot Better a lot Faster with the Support that we used to have for this TEAM.
I know that you feel that you were used before and I do think that this TEAM or the owner should have made the Moves that he is now making way before he did.
And Your right he should have moved faster.
However, I believe that the changes have been made and that the owner is going to stand behind this Group ( Front office and coaching) and get this thing done and done right!
And in the meantime standing behind the Boycott that was well deserved to have happen. Is just going to cause you to miss out on some good football play.
This Javid BEST is the REAL DEAL! And he is FUN TO WATCH.
The whole Offence is fun to watch and the Defence is a lot better with this front four.
Anyway’s I understand TOTALLY ABOUT the PAST.
I just HOPE that the Past doesn’t destroy the Future.
    GO LIONS!

We, as die hard dedicated true blue and silver LIONS fans need to get LOUD again, we need to blow that f$#!*&ng roof of that place. We need to be heard before the game starts, during and after the game. We dont want the other offensive to hear nothing but LION noise. Please, if your going sit in the stands and complain stay home and give your ticket to someone who cares. I will be there making some noise , bring the thunder LIONS fans we can and will bring this team back

Here is a suggestion for Mr. Ford. Have a team of your engineers design a “Special Edition” Mustang” ,With high performance everything, limited quanity, ect, etc and call it a Detroit Lions Edition Mustang. Park one of them at all the home games. Make abouit 2,500 of them for for purchase by the fans of the team and fans of the mustang. Have all the players, coaches, front office personell, and owner, sign a team plaque that also includes a brief thank-you note and registration number eg: 1 / 2500. In addition, any player who gets voted to the Pro Bowl should receive one gratis as well Maybe you will have to hire some folks back to work and then everyone will be winners. Well maybe give it some thought sir. and thank you for our GM, President, and Coaches They are truely professionals..

I have been trying so long to get this teams attention to add a spark to this teams Offense. I have been playing Madden Football since 1992 and have a powerful new Offense and I think that it would give us a huge hand at a chance at the big show. What do we as a team have to lose. The element of suprise is always a huge advantage, the other teams cant even practice against it. All I need is a chance to present this Offense to the team and I know the Lions will Love it. For years we have tried Coaching changes player changes and front office changes why not try and let the fans help. It would be a huge story and great plublicity for the team. Let’s get started before another season is lost
