Levy Inactive, Williams 3rd QB for Philadelphia Game

Wide receiver Derrick Williams has been listed as the Lions’ 3rd quarterback for this afternoon’s game against the Eagles.

In regards to Williams being listed as the 3rd quarterback, the NFL rule states that the player is permitted to dress for and participate in the game as well as pregame and halftime warm-ups.

It also says, “The two quarterbacks on the 45-player Active List must be bona fide quarterbacks; a club is not permitted to designate as one of its two quarterbacks a player whose primary position is not quarterback.”

If the Lions were to put Williams into the game, the first two quarterbacks (Shaun Hill and Drew Stanton) become ineligible to return unless Williams were to enter in the fourth quarter or overtime. Williams would also be limited to quarterback, holder, kicker or punter – he could not play in the game as a receiver.

If the 3rd quarterback enters the game in the fourth quarter or overtime, either of the first two quarterbacks can re-enter the game, but cannot be on the field at the same time as the 3rd quarterback.

Full inactives list:

  • WR Derrick Williams (3rd QB)
  • QB Matthew Stafford
  • RB Kevin Smith
  • LB DeAndre Levy
  • G Manny Ramirez
  • T Jason Fox
  • DE Willie Young
  • DE Cliff Avril

Starting line-up changes include Shaun Hill at quarterback, Turk McBride at defensive end and Landon Johnson at middle linebacker.

Can we just win a game !!! Tired of being a fan a a losing team… And tired of the excuses !!! and the well if they would have just made that catch or made that play…. They never make the plays !!!! Being up by 10 pts in a game means nothing. Gets your hopes up just so they can go back to their loosing ways !!!!! Get a new team in Lansing or Grand Rapids…. Detroit is just cursed !!! Rather drive to see a winner this state !!!!
