Lewand Confirms Start of Lions’ Offseason Program

Team President Tom Lewand confirmed this evening that Lions’ players will begin working out at the teams’ training facility as early as Friday morning.

Lewand: “We were notified by the league today that we are able to resume operations tomorrow; allowing on a directed basis we are going to open the facility tomorrow to the players under contract for an offseason workout.”

Though players can begin working  out tomorrow, team organized workouts will begin on Monday, with the first OTA (Organized Team Activity) day on Wednesday, May 4.

Lewand: “We talked to everybody on the roster today. We’ve reached out to everybody, the position coaches has talked to them, I’ve talked to a few guys, Jim (Schwartz) has talked to a few and our strength coaches have talked to everybody. I know there are a lot of guys interested in coming back. Obviously a lot of them have had other plans, but I expect a good number tomorrow and obviously that number will increase starting Monday when guys have the ability to make the travel plans in.”

Terms of when free agency will begin and when team’s will be permitted to trade players, has yet to be specified.

Lewand: “We’ve been notified that there will be more information forth coming and I would expect that sometime tomorrow.”

    Since martin Mayhew and company have been in charge I have not been able to see his past game coments it was at one time on FSN detroit at 1:00 thats my only contact to Detroit .I live three hours from Detroit.I would like to find out where when and how I can watch team stuff post game etc.the lions arn’t just the city of detroits team.
