Thanks for the surgery update, ML ! Grind out the rehab, savor this year’s victories from the sidelines and come back stronger (it’s been done before!). In 2012 you will take the Lions ground game from GREAT to FEROCIOUS !

To Mikel Leshoure,
Your achilles tendon should heal pretty fast because you are young and healthy. I had achilles tendon surgery on my left foot done twice. So I know the pain.
I wish you a speedy recovery
Peace,
Eddie Hiller

Mr. Leshoure, things happen for a reason. Just keep your head up and smile because when it comes playoff time you’ll be the X factor that no team got to study, game plan around and 100% be healthy.
God bless young man

Man was I absolutely devistated when I heard you lost for the season. I believe you are the next big thing in the league- injury or not. All things happen for a reason and this will only make you stronger. Hit the rehab hard and it will all come together for next season. Best wishes for you and I will pray for your recovery.

Good luck young man. I hope this injury will not be a career ending.

Why not try Doug Hogue at power running back to replace Mikel Leshoure
he has good speed similar size, and that was his natural position prior to being
converted to linebacker his last 2 yrs. of college

OLB Mark Herzlich (Boston College)
Here is a guy I hope the Lions seriously consider. I tihink fans would buy tickets to watchim play based on the human story behind him as well as his guts alone!
Everyone has heard the Herzlich story. After a stellar sophomore 2008 season, Herzlich led all LBs in pass coverage stats and looked like a sure top-10 draft pick after his Junior year.
In 2009 Herzlich was diagnosed with bone cancer. He missed his junior season after undergoing surgery that replaced most of his left femur with a titanium rod.
During his chemotherapy and radiation therapies, Herzlich attended workouts and practices (non contact drills). He would often be seen vomiting on the sidelines, but would not quit on his team.
In 2010, Herzlich was in full remission and was given the medical go ahead to fully participate in team activities. Early on it was clear that his strength and stamina had fallen off considerably.
Herzlich worked like a maniac. He did not quit. Then, he worked even harder. The coaching staff was so concerned that they put Herzlich on a strict workout regimen, and barred him from the weight room during certain periods.
As the 2010 season progressed, Herzlich had recovered some, but not all of his strength and stamina. This was evident at the NFL combine and, as a result, teams decided not to roll the dice on him.

How are things going? No posts in a long time! The Lions “O” sure can use you next year!!!

ML, As yet another Army Soldier to post on your blog, I am really looking forward to seeing you play next year. We clearly could have used you this year, but I think these things happen for a reason. Seeing the Lions 29th in rushing may be the motivation you need to see the importance on how badly the Lions are anxiously awaiting your return. Best’s mid-season injury was tragic, and hope he has a speedy recovery as well, but I think it’s a sign you both could share the carries and take the NFL by storm in 2012. Restore the Roar!
