Ok…why does it say that our 1st rd pick is the 22nd pick, but 23rd overall pick? Wouldn’t the 22nd pick be the 22nd overall pick?
By Josh Moses on Mar 28, 2012 | Reply
how can you have the 22nd pick in 1st round and be 23rd overall?
By Jacob Vorachek on Mar 28, 2012 | Reply
It has to do with the Saints being stripped of their draft pick. I don’t know why it will be 23rd overall though.
By AiryLarry on Mar 28, 2012 | Reply
I am guessing because the Lions were tied with the Falcons for the 22nd pick but pick 23rd because of the tiebreaker (strength of schedule)

One of the NFL teams had to forfit a draft pick this year, thats why it seems odd.

Here’s a thought; The jets have one too many really good secondary players….Maybe a 2nd rounder for Crommartie?
By bull run on Mar 30, 2012 | Reply
Could the Lions trade Avril for Asante Samuel, Samuel is much older, salaries are similar, so the Lions should get a additional 3rd rounder. Samuel is also willing to rework his huge pay, at 31 he cannot be worth more than $5 million/year. The Lions are somewhat deep in the D Line, and weak at CB, makes sense.

russel if u have really done your homework you would have been reading about how mayhew is not done tickering with this roster. he will we and deal on draft day and you watch we will trade out of the frist grab more draft pic to get in the top of the second and draft williams out of osu and james out of oregon and pick up a starting corner also proably end of second or early 3rd. it is absoultly stupied to trade up 8 spot to go after krickpatrick that high in the draft for what we need on this team. lacey is a young kid at a bargin for more or less for depth. i mean no starting db is gonna be worth moving up in the draft for what teams are gonna ask in return at 15..besides we need depth in the secondary…our lack of depth is what hurt in the back end of season not so much the play.. i mean wright, delmus , houston and spievey all missed time at the end of the year..the defense was top 10 when healthy in the back end…so depth is what we need not to sell the frachise to a cb and sink tons of money in them when everyone knows that u need a left tackle and a qb in the long run to have longevity and a long run of success in this league
By corey aukerman on Mar 30, 2012 | Reply
shwartz, lewand ,especially mayhew know what they are doing we are so blessed to have this brain trust running this group,,,we get the backend of this defense healthy and some depth we will make a run at the superbowl this season

Bottom line is if the Lions get to 10-6 or 11-5 i’ll be satisfied in knowing last year wasn’t a fluke. Free agents weren’t strong for upgrading our team long term this year and with all the one year contracts going around we should be fine for next years free agent pool and have a better understanding of what real needs are. old damn near washed up corners aren’t what this team needs in long term goals. Draft unfornately is key again for us and pray we strike gold for another year. Our run game should be something to watch this year with offseason workouts and everyone healthy again to start. Best is a gimmic or 3rd down back at best. Leshoure should fill in on first and second nicely. wideouts i think everyone knows plug-ins work fine now with the new signing of Megatron and having another star rising in Young. OL is a solid but not eye opening. I do know that with all the complaints about our line we still had one of the best offenses in the league. DEFENSE is where this team will pass or fail in years to come. Draft all defense this year and i’ll be satisfied in the upgrades that Chicago made on trying to revamp there offense and ofcourse those DAMN cheeseheads
