The bad press continues for the 2011 Lions draft class.
After Marijuana related incidents involving running back Mikel Leshoure and tackle Johnny Culbreath, Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley has now been arrested in Alabama for second degree marijuana possession, a misdemeanor, according to al.com.
According to the report, Fairley was arrested this afternoon and held at the Mobile County Metro Jail on $1,000 bail.
Mobile police spokeswoman Ashley Rains said that citizens in the Morningside Manor neighborhood of Mobile called police complaining about a car speeding through the neighborhood several times around noon.
Police spotted the vehicle, which was being driven by Fairley, and marijuana was found in the football his possession.
The Lions issued this statement:
“We are aware of the incident involving Nick Fairley.
“We hold all of our players to a high standard of behavior and the recent charges against Nick and Mikel Leshoure are not consistent with those standards. We are extremely disappointed.
“We will continue to gather information and will have further comment at the appropriate time.”
