Reiff expresses his excitement of being a Lion to his hometown paper
Posted by on April 27, 2012 – 3:42 pmNewest Detroit Lion Riley Reiff told his local paper, The Daily Republic, that he was most comfortable experiencing the draft from the comfort of his own home.
Reported Luke Hagen, “Within minutes of Reiff’s selection, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz called Reiff for congratulations.
“He said ‘I’m happy that you’re a Lion,’ and I told him the same,’ Reiff said.”
Reiff also mentioned the mentoring he’s received from fellow-Iowa Hawkeye and first-round selection Chad Greenway and how fitting it is that he’s already driving a Ford F-150.
“‘I just put new tires on it,’ (he said) with a chuckle.”

Congrats Riley! Looking foward to seeing you go to work in blue brudda! We have plenty of Fords and fishing areas here in Michigan my man to make you feel at home away from home (I bet you a quarter of your contract that you’ll fall in love w/the “mitten”). GREAT pick for the Lions org, ability and character. Good luck w/the next step in your career bro and welcome to the “D”!

This kid better work his tail off and protect Stafford. Matt is our future, and we can’t afford to lose him for even one game.
