Calvin Johnson Madden 2013 cover revealed

Posted by Chrissie Wywrot on May 8, 2012 – 4:53 pm

The day before the NFL Draft, Calvin Johnson was announced the winner of the 2013 Madden Cover vote.

Today, less than two weeks later, the cover has been revealed by EA Sports.

The cover features a photo from the photo shoot done immediately following the unveiling. Johnson has his hands out, ready to catch a pass, with key landmarks from the City of Detroit (Ford Field, the Renaissance Center) in the background.

What do you think, Lions fans?

I was hoping that the would have used the picture of him leaping in the endzone over three cowboy defenders.

I would’ve loved to see any picture of him catching one of those fade routes, he’s one of the best players to run them in this game today.

NOOOOOO!! The Madden curse is real!!! This is terrible. I have followed Madden Football for a long time..and EVERY cover person on the game for each year has had a terrible season or gets injured!! Do the research fans.

I think they could have found a better picture of Calvin. Preferably running and stiff-arming..or running someone over. I mean..this picture isnt even from an actual game…it’s posed..fake..whatever..who cares..

…on second though, they couldn’t have Calvin wearing Reebok gear on the cover with the new Nike contract. That’s why the picture was staged.

not feeling this cover as much as i thought i would. should have went with either a ‘faceless’ pic or have him with the helmet shield. don’t like the closeup of his face or the gap in his teeth. just doesn’t look right to me. i like the first ‘reveal’ cover more than this one but oh well.

could have made him half calvin half megatron too. that would have been bad ass imho.

damn, they should have used the black visor, more intimidating, is it too late to change the cover, sorry ea but you screwed this one up, i was really looking forward to this cover too

Should have at least had his head turned a bit so you could see the Lions’ logo on the side of the helmet.

IT would be sweet if he transformed into megaton

  28. By dan on May 9, 2012 | Reply

even calvin himself said he didnt like any of the poses they did that day and because he didnt have his visor he had hoped that they would use a pick of him with his visor on. i guess he was right i think he would have looked more like a transformer with his black visor on they should have let him wear it.

  29. By dan on May 9, 2012 | Reply

i love the background but he looks like he has buck teeth thats the most terrible pick of him i have ever seen.

  30. By dan on May 9, 2012 | Reply

they should have had a pick of optimus prime defending him lol

nice picture of those grasping hands that have caught so many fine passes to put us into the playoffs in just three years from ground zero! wish they could have featured one of those record-breaking jumps straight up into the air! but this will do. glad they put ford field and the renaissance center in there, too. good publicity for detroit. all things detroit seem to be looking up some. smile, everybody!
