“On Monday and Tuesday it was a great time getting to work with the vets for the first time, just going out there and watching the way they workout in the weight room, those guys are hard workers. They put their heart into it and it just goes to show that they’re elite professionals. It was an intense workout and how well they play on the field, it shows up in the weight room. It was a good experience to talk to them and workout with those guys. It finally felt like I was part of the team.

“On Thursday at the Rookie Premiere they split us all up into two groups. I was with the military, there were about 15 military people in that group and we just hung out, I beat one guy in Madden, it was a good time. I talked to one of the coordinators about how the transition is for the guys that come home from war and then have to adapt to the new life that they live, it was definitely eye opening to see that transition and really take a look at how important they are in protecting the United States.

“After we met with the veterans we had an hour off; then I was in a meeting for four hours straight. That’s when we met with the directors and the president of the NFLPA; we went over the CBA and how the lockout went down. They let us know that we’re a brand and have to represent ourselves and also our team.

“Then we met with some NFLPA guys. They said to basically represent ourselves. We are individuals in this sport, we are the CEO from this point on, so whatever we do or say can effect us. We talked about the media, Twitter, Facebook and how our image will be represented in everything that we do and that we’re in the public eye no matter what we do.

“That’s one of the things I’m trying to grasp because I’m a low-key guy and just to myself. Now that I’m going to be in the public eye, it makes me think of the situation a little bit bigger than it is. At the same time, I feel like I can touch people now that I’m on a bigger platform and I’m looking forward to doing that.

“The new Nike uniforms are pretty cool. I wore Nike in college, so it’s nothing too new, but it was cool to put on a Lions jersey more than anything and getting to represent No. 84, Herman Moore’s old number. I feel very honored to be a part of that, and wear his number and live on what he’s done. It’s some big shoes to fill, so it’s going to be a great opportunity for me. I love wearing the Honolulu Blue, I’m a Detroit Lion and I love it.

“There’s a lot of NFL guys here, agents came out as well. We’re right here on the strip, it’s a good time, just hanging out and tomorrow we get at it again.”
