QB Matthew Stafford wins the ESPY award for best comeback athlete

Posted by Tara Altman on July 11, 2012 – 11:07 pm

When quarterback Matthew Stafford won the ESPY award for Best Comeback Athlete on Wednesday night, he was sure to thank his teammates, coaches and the organization as a whole for believing that great things can happen, and they have.

Stafford was also sure to thank the city of Detroit and it’s loyal fans, to which he said he shares this award with.

“I want to say how happy and thankful I am to share this with the city of Detroit,” he said. “It’s on a comeback of it’s own, doing great things. It’s been through a lot, the city has been through a lot, and we’re just one of the teams trying to make them happy and proud, give them something to cheer for. This is for my teammates and the city of Detroit.”

What a nice award for Matthew. He certainly showed all of his doubters that he was worth that first pick the Lions used on him. But even more impressive is the humble nature of this young man. I hope he stays around for many years to come. Plus thanks to our offensive lineman and all those who protected him so well last year. Goooooo Lions!!

Is that kid a class act or what? May he have a very long careet and all of it, right here! (The only thing better was the shocked look on Tim Tebow’s face!)

Matthew Stafford does not get a lot of attention but, he is the most normal guy on this team, well SEEMS to be anyway. He shows up for work does his job and goes home. With over 5,000 yards for his first full season only good things to come for this guy and this young team. Hopefully he is able to stay healthy. After seeing that guy in the wheelchair at the end of the ESPYS, it really just shows the danger on the field. Congratulations to Matthew Stafford and great great speech. Well deserved.

If he keeps this up, he may be able to surpass Stevie as the greatest Captain in the history of the D! Performance, humility, grace and every time he speaks, people listen. Go Lions!

Top 5 QB from last year and #1 on class. O-linemen were great last now let’s get that run game going so the o-line can hit back this year and keep Stafford comfortable if that’s even possible as a qb in the league. lol
