Lions confirm that S Louis Delmas had surgical procedure performed on knee

Posted by Chrissie Wywrot on August 8, 2012 – 9:28 am

Prior to Wednesday’s morning practice, the Detroit Lions confirmed that safety Louis Delmas had a surgical procedure performed on his left knee by Dr. James Andrews.

After participating at the outset of camp, Delmas was held out of some practices last week and has not participated this week.

CORRECTION: The team has not confirmed which knee Delmas had operated on, but Lions Insider Tim Twentyman cites, “his left knee has been keeping him off the field for more than a week because of soreness.”

Geez, lets hope this will not keep him from playing the regular season. Thats all we need is to lose him.

    Ah… When?!?

For crying out loud! When is the MOST important question!

Was it after the season ended in Jan, Feb or March…

    Did it happen THIS WEEK?!?

There is huge difference to my reaction based on that answer!

Next Question: Was it just a “SCOPE” to see what is the issue… or more serious!

    Answer it Tuesday.

    Thanks Tim Twentyman!

    Get well soon Delmas!

When IS the most important question, but, you didn’t ask it.
When is he going to be back?

Trade Avril for some help. We can’t pay him next year anyways…plus Willie and Lojack are looking good.

I for one will not jump your butt as everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Mine is that his stats just reflect the amount of games he has played. They would of course be much better if he could stay healthy for one season. If not, he and Javid may be holding hands walking out the door. Delmas is very aggressive player but his physical size does not allow that kind of punishment. He reminds me a little of the Lion’s Dick “Night Train” Lane but does not have the raw power Lane had. I believe there were very few players in pro-football history that instilled more fear in wide receivers or running backs than Dick “Night Train” Lane. Yes, I am that old and remember going to Lions games when Dick played for them….he was brutal. Ronnie Lott probably came the closest to Lane with the ability to punish WRs in my opinion.

I might add that back then clothes line tackles and helmet to helmet contact were not penalties and unnecessary roughness calls were far and few between.

@ vern huxley …. Delmas is a huge part of our defense!!!!! Yes he has been hurt and Yes he doesnt have Ed Reed type stats but he gives our defense a spark/swag if you want to call it that. Plus are secondery is thin at safety

    Get well soon delmas
