Calvin Johnson back at practice; Delmas, Bentley and others remain out

Lions receiver Calvin Johnson was back at the portion of practice open to the media Thursday morning after missing practice Wednesday and later showing up on the injury report with a foot injury.

Cornerback Chris Houston practiced for a second consecutive day, which is a good sign his injured ankle responded well to practicing Wednesday for the first time in nearly three weeks. Houston was listed as limited on Wednesday’s injury report. Today’s injury report will be released on at 4 p.m. and we’ll see then if his practice status changed any for Thursday.

Safety Louis Delmas remains out of practice. Delmas hasn’t been on the field since undergoing knee surgery Aug. 7. It seems unlikely Delmas would play Sunday night in San Francisco without at least practicing once this week, but head coach Jim Schwartz did say last week that a veteran player like Delmas wouldn’t need a lot of time to get back into the swing of things when designated as healthy enough to play.

Also missing practice Thursday were cornerback Bill Bentley (concussion), defensive tackle Corey Williams (knee), defensive end Lawrence Jackson (calf) and linebacker Travis Lewis (quad). All four of those players also  missed practice Wednesday.
