Louis Delmas, Sammie Hill and Cliff Avril all questionable for Sunday

Posted by ttwentyman on October 12, 2012 – 4:00 pm

The Lions officially listed safety Louis Delmas as questionable for Sunday’s game in Philadelphia on Friday’s injury report. Delmas sat out of practice Friday after being a limited participant both Wednesday and Thursday, but head coach Jim Schwartz said that was by design.

“We had planned to ease him back at the end of the week,” he said. “He’s doing well. He’s not having any setbacks and I’d like to keep it that way.”

Delmas said he’s still not 100 percent, but is getting better every day.

“I can’t really determine whether I play or not, but, like I said, I take it day-by-day, believe in my trainers – they’re doing a great job of preparing me, mixing me in, so I can get back out there on the field,” he said Friday.

Defensive tackle Sammie Hill (toe) and defensive end Cliff Avril (back) are also questionable. Both players were limited all week in practice.

Tight end Brandon Pettigrew (knee), receiver Titus Young (knee), linebacker Travis Lewis (quad) and safety Amari Spievey (groin) are listed as probable.

Linebacker Stephen Tulloch is also listed as probable after showing up on the injury report on Friday for the first time this week with a knee injury. He had a procedure done this offseason to help alleviate some soreness associated with tendinitis.

You know, I thought after last year, the Lions were on their way to success and self respect. But NOOOOooooooooooooo, it seems we have a tough capable if not outstanding QB in Matt Stafford and a “once in a lifetime” WR in CJ.
After that, we have allot of guys who like cashing paychecks that FAR exceed their abilities or efforts. Delmas does he actually play for the Lions anymore? How many games has this Part Time player actually ever played in? Pettigrew can’t hang on to the ball, so he might as well be hurt or sitting on the bench looking at all the pretty colors.
Young and Burelson don’t seem able to keep the pressure off of CJ, and don’t provide Reliable goto options. Scheffler was a favorite, but now he seems to have caught the dropsies. RBs I’d like to have one. Man do I Miss Barry.
Defense, hmmmmm, NO we don’t have any! SUH who looked like superman his rookie year, now is afraid to offend someone. I TOLD YOU ALL that Avril was NOT worth $10 Million, or $5 Million, or even $2Million. I’d take that white boy from Minnesota anyday! We need younger more athletic and aggressive LBs and Bentley and the rest of those CBs to CUT THEIR HAIR! When you play shitty, the point is to NOT draw attention to yourself!
Boy Minnesota looks good huh? No QB, No big changes or improvements, HEY Maybe its the coaching? Nooooooo LOOK at how fast Lenihan adjusted to that deep zone by the opposing Safeties. WOW what a difference a few months can make, but in the end its still the SAME OLD LIONS!

JP… I am very surprised that your last name is not O’Toole. Because it would be fitting.

I feel your pain JP!!! It’s really starting to piss me off for everybody(players and coaches) keep acting like they never faced this two-deep coverage!! Teams didn’t respect our running game last year also and knew we were going to throw it deep to calvin and they just couldn’t stop it!! As a team offensively we threw it to calvin whether cover 1, cover 2, or cover 20 for that matter!! Coaching and lack of simple fundamentals(examples are, no adjustments or aggressiveness by the coaches, dropped passes and tackling) If the coaches can come out with a slick game plan and be able to adjust on the fly and we can catch the DAMN ball and TACKLE somefreagginbody, we can beat the eagles this wkend!!!!!

Oh come on! JP and AM give it a rest if you can not say anything positive then do not say Anything! The lions do have good players the defense and offense our in the top ten and if not for a few mistake they kept the kept them out of the end zone! accept for special teams they would have won the game! Young has a knee injury not an excuse but it does make a difference and Burleson is having a good year if you look at his numbers! But Nooooooooo you have to complain and it sounds like to me you might be a fan of the vikings!GO LIONS!

I am sick of all the negativity from “fans”. I understand the frustration, but come on, if it weren’t for special teams giving up 2 TDs 2 weeks in a row, we are 3-1 instead of 1-3. We were in all 4 games and we will continue to be in every game every week. We had an extra week to let this back start sit in our heads and make our desire to win back to what it was last year, as well as get players healthy like Delmas, who we desparately needed back. We will be fine, believe! Also, at the beginning of the season I thought the end of the schedule was the tough part, but with NO and GB playing like they are, it makes the end of the schedule look easier.

JP I gree with you to a point, a its coaching offensive and speacial teams. Do i have answers short of hiring oregons coach as a consult for creativity, and drafting DENARD ROBINSON from MICHIGAN not to replacement but as a throwing PERCY HARVIN just imagine they do not come up to tackle him he lets it fly to CJ OR HE CUTS BACK INTO A HOLE AND OFF TO THE RACES, I KNOW HE WANTS TO play QB BUT I HEARD HIM SAY HIS MAIN GOAL IS TO PLAY ON SUNDAY IT WOULD BE ASHAME IF THE LIONS LET HIM GET AWAY ESPECIALLY SINCE HE WAS DEVELOPED IN OUR BACKYARD CAMPUS

The offense scored enough points to win the past two games. The defense kept us in both games. I’m not saying either group played great ball, barely good enough. But it incredibly difficult to play from behind because of the historically bad Special Teams unit coached by the worst ST coach in the history of the game, except for his predecessor, maybe. Give away 14 free points, lose the game. No team, not GB, not SF, not NO, none of them could win with the 14 free point giveaway ST program we have. Nobody.

How can you get anything going when you are on your heels and playing from behind. You get close, catch up, and then bam more free points.

Cut the clown coach, or buy a clown car for the ST players, because he makes them look bad. Very bad.

Lets make some changes to this rat ok.

  11. By Wajiboy on Oct 13, 2012 | Reply

We need to start the new left tackle and get that guy from dallas we have at the center spot if he is ready. Those are the 2 joke areas on our line although there is a third postion of change and thats at guard also. Lets get a couple of real CB and let that rat Avril go in a trade and those other guys with the big belly there not in shape. Who is the conditioning coach I could tell him how to slim those pigs down to fighting weight. And please another big wide receiver is needed not those little rats we keep bringing in. That big guy we picked up from seattle to the practice squad use him. Otherwise consider our team a loser. And Scott lets get some different plays in or everyone will have a receding hairline like yours. You big bunch rats that get paid to have a fun hobby. Let me play and get paid to.

  12. By Wajiboy on Oct 13, 2012 | Reply

And a few coaches need to be changed please a loser is loser and it looks like when you don’t like playing for someone you get no results. If I was the GM you rats would be OUT RIGHT AFTER THE SECOND GAME ON THE SPOT TOO. I don’t play wee wee ball to get a wee wee result like lose and then try and justify it. Get rid of those rats even if you got to get a college guy in there. Or call Brett Farve up and offer him a job with us.

I want a refund for some of the money spent to watch this unstable team play with no results. What a rat they are sometimes.

Oh you want positive fan talk? OK, I have been a lions fan for over 40 years! I love they way they lose, over, and over again. I love the way they drop passes, fumble, lots of interception, dumb penalty’s at crucial times. I love it that they don’t make the playoffs 99% of the time over the last 40 years. I love the dumb bone headed decisions that the coaches make. I love to watch DElmas and other sit on the bench most of the season and get paid millions to do it. I love it when I wear my Lions shirt/hat and everyone laughs at me while I am in other country’s and States——yes I am a happy team loving lions dude. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS,, FORD YOUR THE BEST OWNER IN THE WORLD!!!

Well I am a long time Lions fan 50+ years and I agree with Simms. Lions have always been consistant as he states and you start to think maybe they are starting to turn the corner and as years go by nothing really changes. Last year could of been completely different considering 4 games they were behind by 20+ pts and they won them all. They barely beat Minnesota, Oakland, and a few more that they should of beat handidly. Schwartz for all of his bravado he does not have control of this team. It was obvious last year especially with all the stupid penalties, the offseason fiasco with all the arrests. I just read where Suh was in another accident side swiped a car and didn’t stop. Do you think some of the great coaches like Coughlin of the Giants or Bellechik of the Patriots, or past coaches like Mike Ditka, Jimmie Johnson would put up with out of control players like Scwartz does? These other coaches demand respect from their players and to tow the line and be professionals. I travel the country and all I hear are how the Lions are nothing but thugs just like their coach. It might be one thing if you were 4-0 and winning but the Lions are 1-3 and have no respect for the game or even for their head coach or the NFL. These players that continue to break the law and think because they are athletic and a star they can do whatever they want. Maybe our coaches should go to school and learn how to make adjustments, learn how to make your players respect the game and tow the line. Learn how to put your players in the right positions to take advantage of what is being thrown at you and lastly learn how to win.

Hey All of you Negative Fans from Green bay, Chicago and Minnesota.
Would you guy’s please go back and read your own teams articles and leave our players alone. I know, I know that you want More and better competition
WE realize that you other teams in the LIONS division want us to start beating the tar out of you every time that we play you and that day is coming SOON!
I mean when you have lost for fifty years OVER and OVER and Over again then things don’t just change Overnight. WELL I mean it does for your Teams, But we know why that is. However it isn’t that way for our TEAM. Things Don’t just fall together for our LIONS like they do for YOUR TEAMS!
Don’t know why? Can’t understand it? Maybe you guy’s will share your secrets with us about it someday. That way maybe the whole Lions Team will make it into the Canton Hall of Fame someday, Instead of JUST our GREAT individual players like it has been for so very, very long! Maybe SOMEDAY! Maybe SOMEDAY! OH what a DREAM it is to Maybe Someday get a LIONS TEAM in the SB and Win it too!

I do not believe in hokus pokus, majic, curses, voodo, hexes or spells, but along time ago I heard da lions had a curse put on them…. I think I can get a pass on this one and I am actually thinking this may be the reason they suck..I mean, how can a team be so bad for so long? No one or thing is that unlucky for this long, man I am 45 years old and since I was old enough to understand what football was, I remember them losing the same way 40 years ago, as they are losing now! Dumb plays, dropping the ball, same ole same ole, and last year, they won those games cuz the other team was put to sleep. One thing I know, Ford needs to sell this team.. I also heard over and over is that ole’ man Ford just uses this team as a tax write off….. I thik they need to start seeing empty seats!!!

OH here’s another thing.. You “fans” that are pissed cuz others piss and moan about our lions.. what else are we to do, what you want us to support terrible play? Are you a fan of lazy no good players? Grow some balls and let them know your not happy with poor play and injured players! I am sick of 40 years of losing!!! I am sick of it and I am not going to sit here and worship a bunch of over paid bumbling idiots. If your not complaing, then your only supporting these over rated fools. That boy named suh needs to start playing, he is nothing but hype, and your nose is so far up his keeester to state he sucks!!! 45 years of constant losing —- I can not be a “fan” of, if your are, then your a loser–Chris
