Calvin Johnson misses third practice this week

For a third straight day, there was no sign of receiver Calvin Johnson (knee) at the portion of Lions practice open to the media. Johnson has been dealing with a knee injury for the past three weeks, but this is the first time he’s missed an entire week of practice because of it.

“That’s the main thing, just being ready for Sunday,” Johnson said Thursday. “I have to be out there to help these guys out.”

The Lions will release their designations for Sunday’s game at Jacksonville on detroitlions.com at 4 p.m.

Safeties Louis Delmas (knee) and Amari Spievey (concussion) also missed their third practice of the week.

Delmas injured the same left knee he had surgery on in training camp in the third quarter of last week’s win over the Seahawks. Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said Delmas is “day-to-day.”

Defensive end Cliff Avril (back) returned to the practice field for the first time this week today.

Hope he can play Sunday. But he should not risk further injury if he needs to rest the knee this Sunday would be the time. I do not want to see him out for the season.

There is no such thing as curses! Calvin has been having issues with injuries for a couple of years now. He just plays through them is all.

makes no difference. He’s either shaving points or just sucks: can’t catch a pass, period. time to let someone else step up.

Karen, That did cross my mind about shaving points. I forget which game since he has been dropping balls in all the games they played, I said it looks like he is dropping those passes on purpose. Bite your tongue I said but it really could be. Or correct one year wonder and he does suck!
