Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley had his misdemeanor marijuana possession charge dismissed by an Alabama judge today.

Fairley was arrested back in April when an Alabama police officer stopped Fairley’s Cadillac Escalade and detected a strong smell of marijuana inside the car and found a small amount in the ashtray.

Fairley has since passed every NFL issued drug test administered to him this season under the league substance abuse program, according to Fairley’s lawyer Sid Harrell.

The judge found that sufficient enough to drop the misdemeanor charges.

Fairley is still due in court in February for a hearing regarding his DUI charge from May, Harrell said.

The second-year defensive tackle was arrested in May for suspicion of DUI after a state trooper in Alabama said Fairley drove by his patrol vehicle going 100 mph.

If a plea can’t be reached at the time of the Feb. 7 court date, a trial would be set for late February.

Fairley was headed back to Detroit Tuesday afternoon to join his teammates for practice Wednesday in preparations for Sunday’s game in Green Bay.
