Calvin Johnson: “My favorite Christmas gift ever has to be my Ninja Turtles”

Posted by Chrissie Wywrot on December 19, 2012 – 5:57 pm

“Shopping for Christmas gifts, it’s hard to go out to the mall and get gifts because everybody wants to take a picture, so I just end up buying all my gifts online.

“Over the last few years I’ve been recognized more and more and more. It just keeps on more and more and once one person wants a picture, if you take it, then your shopping is finished because everybody else wants one.

“I don’t even try to disguise myself now, I just don’t go to the mall. And if I do go, I just go right when they open.

“My parents’ anniversary is on Christmas Eve, so my brother and sisters always used to cook for them, make cookies for Santa afterwards and watch ‘The Grinch’ and then try to go to sleep. I don’t remember what we made, but it was always a nice little dinner.

“My favorite Christmas gift ever has to be my Ninja Turtles when I was little. I got the four.

“Picking my favorite turtle – that’s a tough one because I love the nunchucks but Donatello was my favorite with the stick. I like him because of his weapon.

“I got the bus. I got the mini-van, whatever it was. I was good after that.”

Hey CJ, A Great Christmas Gift for all of we fans would be to see you break Jerry Rice’s receiving record, and for Matt to break the 5000 yards mark again this year! What is up with Tony Scheffler? Three long passes DROPPED? He is looking more like Pettigrew, than a sure handed tight end. Tell Mayhew to look long and hard at Mantei Teo for a new, more aggressive MLB.

Go get that record CJ! (Mantei Teo does sound like a great choice also)

Great gift Calvin. Mine were my GI Joes all four of them. Now go out there and break Jerry Rice’s record now that would be a great Christmas gift for true Lions fans. I agree Mante Te’o would be a great draft pick. Now to get Mayhew to see that.

Not even mad at that, I never got all the Turtles. I think I had Raph and Leo, only cause it was me and my brother. Definitely had to get shredder, had to kick someones tail

Shopping online is the only way to go. No lines, no hassle. Most of the time it’s free shipping! Ninja Turtles! Haha classic. My favorite has always been Raphael. Whether you break the record or not, having you still playing hard for this team is the best present a Lions fan can ask for. We’ll be rooting for you and the team.

Hope you get a few more passes your way, so you can at least have a chance to break the record, would love to see it happen . That would be a positive ending to this season. I have been a Lions fan for over 50 years, and just love your style, you are alot like Barry Sanders quite but AWESOME!!!!! Good luck we are behind you all the way Calvin. Merry Christmas!!!!

How about this Cmas gift: for Stafford to stop throwing interceptions, Suh to play up to his ability, coaches that get a clue, and Sissy teamates stop getting hurt, and the fords to sell the team to L.A,,, Go Falcons!

Thanks for another disappointing year, oh last year was the exception, a loss in the wild card game.

Don’t worry, everything is cheaper online anyways. Just when I didn’t think you could elevate any higher in my mind as an athlete and role model, you pull the Turtles card. Classic. Congratulations on a great individual season and breaking the Madden curse!

Donatello was my favorite one of the figures too, because if you put the bo staff in his hands right, you could send him down a slide on his feet and he wouldn’t fall over. Good times.
    Merry Christmas CJ and Lions.

Mall shopping, you’re not missing much. Shopping online in the comforts of your own home **Priceless** I know it has been a tough year for you and your teammates, but look at it this way. Every experience is a lesson to learn. See what lessons you can pull outta this season and apply to the next. Good luck on beating Jerry Rice record and Merry Christmas. =)
