Move down 2-4 spots and that team gives a 1st round pick for next year along with other higher picks in the draft. If this dreamworld were real, I'd say go for it.

Trading down into the middle of the first (10-16) to get a 2nd and 3rd rd pick would be more likely.

There are plenty of positions to fill now and in the future. A lineman would be nice, but there are bigger holes to fill.
Rd 1. Any position on the Defense, other than DT.
Rd 2. Defense again (if they were to pickup Barret Jones here, hopefully peterson, raiola, or backus would be cut, as there's no need to let a guy like this "develop" for a year like Reiff).
Rd 3. OL or Speed Back
Rd 4. Whichever you didn't get in the 3rd
Rd 5-7. Fill other needs

Lets talk the draft:

If there ever was a time to choose an offensive lineman this is the year to do it. The Alabama line has future pro bowlers on it. Your going to need more picks than you have which means you need to trade your first pick. Arizona, Buffalo and the Jets need a quarterback. Who if any will deal with the LIons fifth pick? Moving down to 7, 8 or 9 is not a big deal. Get a first next year and a second and third this year in exchange for their first as a minimum. You then could get Milliner from Alabama or a good DE like Dion Jordan or who ever is the best player on the board. Second round get your center Barret Jones and Eric Reid a play maker safety. Third round PIck up Gholston or Amerson depending on your first pick then pick up a WR like Stedman Bailey from WV. in the fifth go after Dri Archer for kickoffs and change of pace at running back.

We need Avril like I need another hole in my head. The dude is a product of mismatches from the best tandem of DT's in the league. They are much better off releasing Avril, KVB, and Levy and using rookies from last year and depth to fill those slots. If we have to have a DE use the 10 mil we saved for 15 mil we saved for Avril and KVB to get a guy out of FA. We need to think about replacing Raiola, Peterman, and Cherilus. Backus has his replacement, Raiola is on his way out in 1 maybe 2 years, and Cherilus is the devil. Please release him, he always knows the worst time to get a flag thrown his way. We need a CB, OLB, G, T, C, WR.

Let's talk the draft:

If Damontre Moore falls to Detroit they say he can play outside linebacker but what about inside linebacker. This could be your Brain Urlacker if he can play ILB. If he can't he will be one hell of a DE. If you pick Morre and play him at DE and then pass on Avril you have gained nothing unless you can pick another DE like William Gholston. So let's be honest Avril, Suh, Fairley and Moore would be one hell of a defensive line. Gholston, Avril, Suh and Moore would also be a great line but you need a safety who can play along side Delmas. You give away to many big plays without a complimentary safety along side Delmas. Big runs and big pass plays that can be avoided with a great safety. Delmas can only cover so much ground. Can the Lions afford picking two DE in the draft considering all the needs they have? That why Mayhew must find a way to sign Avril.
