It's very natural to write off a guy like Young, especially considering his attitude of just being out for himself. But you can't put 100% of the blame on Mayhew. With so many players on the board to pick from, you trying to fill the needs for your team, and the clock ticking away the seconds of your time to come up with a decision, I give the guy a pass. Let's stop focusing on Young, let Mayhew help him behind the scenes and make up for it by drafting smarter this year. It's okay to make a mistake if you learn from it. You don't want bad history to repeat itself. Let's applaud the guys like Burleson for restructureing their contracts and putting the team first. Lead by example.Maybe Titus will learn something from sitting out and salvage his career. And maybe not. No harm in trying and kudos to Mayhew for being concerned.

Nobody should fault Mr. Mayhew for what appears to be him offering support for Titus Young and his family. Nothing more than that, as he will never be a Lion again and has, through his actions arrived at a point that may entirely exclude him from an NFL career. Largely self-induced and he alone is responsible for his actions. I as a Lions fan bashed the hell out of this guy for what he did. That has nothing to do with the more important question of whether those around him; agents, players, family, maybe counselors can help him to evolve as a person and get with the program and maximize an opportunity that very FEW ever get: a chance to play professional football.

Hey, give Mayhew a break, Titus is still human being, one of God's creations. He has problems bigger than any sport or game. Mayhew should be commended for his willingness to help!!

That is Mayhew's business I suppose, but as a fan, Titus Young not playing football professionally is what I deem acceptable. What's wrong Titus? Things not going well for the "best" WR in the game?
