After much anticipation, former Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush has signed a four-year deal with the Detroit Lions.

Bush has been touted in the media as a token prospect for the Lions considering his ability to make plays out of the backfield and potentially take pressure off of Calvin Johnson.

WELCOME TO DETROIT!!! Now our offense will be SPITTING FIRE at the opposing defenses!!! They will have to decide who to cover now rather than simply triple-teaming Calvin!!

If the Lions want to establish a running game they need to draft either Chance Warmack or Eric Fisher. You need some linemen that can open some holes for our running backs. If the Lions could start making first downs on 3rd and one and 3rd and two and punching in the ball inside the 5 with their running game they will score more than enough points to win more games. They would also keep the defense off the field longer. Also the opponents defense would not be able to rush Stafford like they do now knowing we have no ground game which would keep him healthy and not so gun shy.We could get a DE or CB in the second round and a LB or receiver in round three. If we get a compensatory pick in round 4 we could go safety or OL.Rounds 5,6 and 7? Maybe we get lucky.

NOW we can go for that 4th & 2 at the 35 yard line with confidence. Or on the goal line with the game on the line. Welcome Busssshhhhhhh….just like the sound of a cold beer…..AAAAAAAHHHHH, yes….refreshing to say the least.

Welcome REGGIE… you’re gonna love 6 man boxes in Detroit.

Reggie expressed interest in #22; Bobby Layne’s number, but it is retired.

Does anyone know why Tony Scheffler is wearing #85 – retired Lion’s number?

This will give the lions a better chance at second and short and giving Matt a option for a long gain espicially if they had some speed on the other side, big Play will be more often now

Getting one of the best runningbacks in the world won’t be any good unless you have an offensive line that can block!
The success of an offensive play lives and dies by the o-line, period.

If the Lions want to see Reggie run, the next move come April is to get some good linemen and an o-line coach…. just sayin’.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but a first round offensive lineman in the draft may make more sense than a DE. Even though the DE position is weak, to get the offense clicking on a high scale getting a impact guard or tackle in the draft might be the key to really opening the running game inside the twenty’

But the defense will have to be coached way up to get it to be able to stop opposing offenses when the game is on the line.

Free agency is looking good so far. I still say we draft offense line if the right player is there. Need to protect the franchise (Stafford) and blast some holes for the running backs. Our offensive line has been crummy for a long time. Burn the draft pick and sure up that OL for 5-10 years. Go Lions!!!

It’s been a great day so far. Reggie Bush, Glover Quinn. Get Delmas back or sign Pollard and draft a good cover guy for a corner. But get Jarvis Jones with that first pick. Offensive linemen and corners are deeper than other positions in this years draft. We get Jones back there and we are looking at a pretty darn good, all-round team. With last years guys gaining all that experience, we already have depth. I have no objection to drafting a lot of offensive linemen and even encourage it. But let’s start the process in Round 2. Reggie, welcome to the team!

1st. Welcome Reggie and Glover… and I mean it sincerely!!!!

2nd. C’mon people “super bowl threat”? Really? Not unless Reggie can play the corner also, and Quin can cover the other 3 quarters of the defensive backfield. Oh, wait they will have to block as well to be able to run the ball inside the red zone, and to kill the clock to secure a win at the end of games.

    **Bottom line**

Great for the offense that was already pretty good enough to be a superbowl threat if we had the Ravens defense.
Bad for a Defense which is by far the weakest part of this team (pretty much has been for most of my 43 years on earth).
Defense wins games in the playoffs people (Ravens vs 49er superbowl ring a bell?)

Time to draft for need Lions (Defensive backs and O-linemen), and I mean a lot of them becasue they all don’t pan out.

How did we miss out on Percy Harvin for a seventh round draft pick? Oh, I guess we don’t need a return man becasue our special teams are already good enough to be a legitaimate super bowl threat.

Start practicing punt and KO returns reggie. Thanks for making us a legit superbowl threat and good luck!

WELCOME!! Maybe now the third and one or two will be reduced to many more first downs after the first and second plays. We fans have waited many years for another GOOD RUNNING BACK!!!

What about Heyward-Bey or signing Sean Smith from Miami probably to much cash but if they remain unsigned after a few days oh boy.

@ Shane Fountain. How can you slam Rick Sharp’s post???? That is exactly what the Lions need to do. Have you been watching the games for the last 10 years? His post is one of the more intelligent posts that have been on this site all time. But, judging by your knowledge of the English language, there can no doubt about your knowledge of the sport of football. So I forgive you.

Welcome to the Detroit Lions, Reggie! Looking forward to all the skills you bring that will make this offense even MORE explosive!

I think this move adds the dimension that we were missing with Best being out and will put a LOT of pressure on defenses to try and figure out who to stop.

With all of the cornerbacks that have been cut recently, I’m thinking if Detroit picks up a good one (D’Angelo Hall?), they won’t have to draft Milliner at #5, and could instead get Fisher. Then you can let Backus go and free up more money to get more done.
