Barry Sanders looking to advance to ‘Elite Eight’ of Madden Cover vote

The “Madden 25″ cover vote over on SportsNation is in it’s third week with former Detroit Lions and Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders pitted against soon-to-be Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis for a spot in the Elite Eight. Next up would be a matchup with the Joe Montana/Dan Marino winner.

The Lions are looking to grace the cover for a second consecutive year after receiver Calvin Johnson won the cover last year and parlayed that into a career season.

EA Sports has gone with a “Old School” vs. “New School” theme this year with the fans deciding which school ultimately reins supreme.

Both Sanders and Lewis have even gone to Twitter to recruit votes:

Lewis — Rock the vote!! – Would be honored to grace the cover again for Madden NFL 25 – Click http://espn.com/maddenvote  OR Retweet – #Madden25RayLewis

Sanders — Both @audrhi and @jbbernstein really want me to win Madden25. They are giving away signed 8×10. What really matters is if you want me to win

Third-round voting ends Wednesday.

Ray Lewis just retired and should not be allowed to contend with the likes of Barry Sanders.

Greatness shares itself with character . Barry Sanders wins the vote no matter how you spin it. Nice try to Ray and his baltimore following, Run Barry Run !!!!!

Well the best part about it is that Calvin Johnson broke the “Madden Curse”. No past players have ever been affected, have they?

i don’t think there ever was a “madden curse” it was only pure coincidence.
