Barry Sanders advances in Madden voteHall of Fame running back Barry Sanders is moving on in the SportNation EA Sports Madden Cover Vote after defeating Ray Lewis with 67 percent of the fan votes.

Sanders moves on to face fellow Hall of Famer Joe Montana in the “Elite Eight” of the bracket-style contest. Montana defeated Dan Marino with 70 percent of the vote in the previous round.

Still remaining in the “old school” vs. “new school” format is Sanders, Montana, Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders on the “old school” side of the bracket and Russell Wilson, Arian Foster, Robert Griffin III and Adrian Peterson on the “new school” side.

Sanders thanked all those who voted for him via Twitter on Wednesday:

“Thanks you to all the fans for their support in the #Madden25Vote,” he wrote.

The next round of voting lasts until April 10.

The “old school” lineup looks hard to beat at this point.
