Sedrick EllisThe Lions still have an opening for a defensive tackle to fit into their four-man rotation alongside Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley and C.J. Mosley.

Veteran Corey Williams, who spent the last three seasons in Detroit, is still a free agent, but the Lions are reportedly exploring all options.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday that free agent defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis will visit the Lions and Bears this week after a visit to New England last week.

Ellis, 27, was the No. 7-overall pick by the Saints in 2008. He’s started all 70 games he’s played in over the last five seasons and had 36 tackles in 2012.

His best season came in 2010, when he recorded 44 tackles, six sacks and forced two fumbles.

Note: The Lions released cornerback Lionel Smith Monday.

Wow !!!! Sedrick Ellis could bring a dimension to the D Line that would pout the Defensive line over the top in agressiveness he ate our offenseline up when we played NewOrleans !!! I sincerely hope they can reel him in for at least one season deal

Ellis was a cap casualty in New Orleans, where he made $7.34M in 2012. He’s most likely to land in Chicago, where he has a better shot at starting on a team that can better afford him.

I can’t see him coming to Detroit for other reasons as well. The acquisition of C.J. Mosely, and the fact that Jason Jones can move inside if Fairley can’t stay on the field.

I do like kicking the tires on Ellis though. It would force the Bears to offer more cash to lock him up. Savvy move by Mayhew.

If the Lions Really want Sedrick Ellis I believe that we Can get Him.
And If we aren’t going to bring Cory Williams Back then I believe that Sedrick Ellis would be crazy to sign up with any other Team because of the fact of How Good he would fit in this Scheme! Come on Over to the “D” Sedrick.
Reggie Want’s another Superbowl, Come an help him out Bro.
We will be very happy to have you!
I believe you want another Superbowl Too! We haven’t had a championship in over 50 years. Can you Imagine a Detroit party like that one?
Come on Sedrick! C’mon over! To the “D” And Help make us What we are meant to be, Superbowl Champions! The Detroit Lions!
That Sounds so Good that it makes me Hungry! (:

In my estimation not sure of the cap room the Lions have but Ellis would be better served to sign with Detriot due to fact being on the same line with Suh would provide him with more opportunity to get to the QB the Lion line would be a much better fit for him in terms of his individual success, With Fairly, Suh, our line would no doubt be one of the best if not the best in the league.
