Louis Delmas among seven inactive for Lions tonight

Louis DelmasThe Lions kick off the preseason tonight vs. the Jets, but will do so without seven players who have been ruled inactive.

Not participating will be safety Louis Delmas, guard Leroy Harris, defensive end Israel Idonije, receiver Ryan Broyles and cornerbacks Ron Bartell, Chris Greenwood and Jonte Green.

Most of these players will go through warmups, but have been ruled out of game action for various reasons.

Head coach Jim Schwartz has said for weeks that the main goal is to get everyone ready for Week 1 vs. Minnesota. A lot of these players would have likely played had tonight been a regular season game.

Rookie second-round pick Darius Slay will start for Bartell at right cornerback and Don Carey will take Delmas’ place in the starting lineup at safety.

Delmas needs to get on the field this year or he’ll be gone by next year! Too many good CB’s who could play safety that are waiting for a chance to play. Delmas has missed 1/2 of his available games since the Lions drafted him. I’d like to see Greenwood at that spot, bigger, faster, and not as injury prone.

I agree that Delmas knees have just plain worn out! I do not agree with Ohara saying Ackers will be the starting kicker! first off rugland went 2for2 as did ackers ! secondly martin did the punts and the kick off which is good for ackers but what happens if god forbid martin get,s injured acker leg will not allow him to kick off but Rugland has the leg to kick off so I am not a believer in ackers full season play he had an injury last year and who would kick field goals if rugland is put on wavier to p squad HE NEVER MAKE IT THROUGH THE WAVIER HE WOULD BE PICK UP RIGHT AWAY BY ANOTHER TEAM! no he can kick in the in NFL on the field he proved that tonight ! I believe rugland is the better choice because he can make the field goals and kickoff this team would have to much to lose if we go with Ackers and everything to gain with rugland!
